Experience: Soak up Oxford’s rich culture & history
Day trips to castles. Punting. A moonlit ball. We couldn’t have you travel to Oxford and not experience the rich history and culture of the city (and beyond). That’s why our programme offers a range of day trips and fun on-campus activities.
Culture & Day Trips
Windsor Castle Day Trip
Tour the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, and the Official Residence of His Majesty The King. Watch the famous Changing of the Guard, and see the Queen’s soldiers in their traditional uniforms as they parade past. Stroll through the old city of Windsor, explore its streets and shops, and find the perfect lunch spot by the river to take in all the history.
Blenheim Palace Day Trip
Explore the residence of the Dukes of Marlborough and the birthplace of the famous wartime prime minister Winston Churchill. The palace is more than 300 years old, and one of the largest houses in the UK. You’ll get a guided tour, including the Grounds and Gardens, and can even try finding your way out of the world’s second-largest symbolic maze.
Oxford Scholastica International Ball
Balls are a great Oxford student tradition — this one takes place midway through the programme on a historic boat on the River Thames. You’ll get to dress up, watch the sunset over the water, and dance the night away with friends.
Swinging Molly Ceilidh
Learn how to dance in the traditional Scottish Dancing “ceilidh” fashion — we’ll be dancing the night away with Swinging Molly after the Graduation Ceremony on the last evening.
Sports
We have a range of sporting activities on offer, whatever your athletic ability!
Punting
Experience this quintessential Oxford tradition, where you push a flat-bottomed boat along the river using a long pole. It’s relaxing, and the perfect activity for a summer afternoon.
Oxford Olympics
With competitions ranging from five-legged races to egg catching to hill rolling, are you ready to win this year’s competition?
Running Club
Take in Oxford’s stunning and expansive local parks, as well as canals and ancient walkways. Our inclusive and friendly running club caters to all levels and abilities.
Football + Other Sports
Play in our football tournament at the famous Iffley Road Sports Centre (scene of the world’s first four minute mile), or enjoy an informal game with friends. You can also shoot hoops on nearby basketball courts or brush up on your tennis skills.
Graduation Ceremony
On the final Friday of the summer school, we dress up and gather for our formal Graduation Ceremony. This takes place at the Saïd Business School in the centre of Oxford, in one of their theatres. You’ll hear speeches from our leadership team, as well as student representatives from many of the classes. Parents and family members are welcome!
