Join students from all over the globe to master your subject, gain clarity about your future, and prepare for a changing world – all while experiencing our inspirational and rigorous teaching.
Along with a small group of students (maximum of 15) you’ll learn about your subject through discussion, research and debates. You’ll have two hours of live contact time per day, plus plenty of independent study to maximise your learning.
With one and two week courses throughout the summer, this is your opportunity to get the Oxford Scholastica experience, from anywhere.

Tuscany Parkin
BA LLB (Rhodes), BCL (Oxon)
Tuscany graduated with the BCL Masters of Law from the University of Oxford, specialising in Jurisprudence, Competition Law and Comparative Contract Law. She is currently reading for the MPhil in Legal Philosophy. She obtained her BA in English Literature and LLB Law with Honours from Rhodes University. She has extensive tutoring experience, and enjoys working with young people to discover their own areas of legal interest.
Benjamin White
MChem (Hons)
Ben is completing his DPhil in Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, having studied for his integrated Masters in Chemistry at the University of Bath. Ben researches the use of nanotechnology in cancer treatment, in order to improve chemotherapy. Ben has many years of tutoring experience, covering all STEM subjects. He has also served as a peer mentor and tutor for undergraduate students at the University of Bath and St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford.
Oonagh Ekereoboghene Stewart
BA (Oxon)
Oonagh holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Medical Sciences from the University of Oxford. Her specialist interests include understanding the genetic basis of sleep regulation; last year she conducted research at the Oxford Sleep and Circadian Institute and has since written a dissertation on her findings, presenting at a conference in Oxford. She is a keen tutor with a lot of experience, and enjoys sharing her passion for clinical medicine.

You’ll be awarded an Oxford Scholastica Academy Certificate, as well as a Letter of Recommendation written by your Tutor.

This course will help hone your creative writing and storytelling skills and you’ll learn about different genres of writing, including fantasy, memoir and historical fiction. You’ll also explore plot development and character creation. By the end of the course, you’ll have a portfolio of your own stories and increased confidence in your creative writing abilities.

Medicine

You’ll learn about human anatomy, the systems of the body and common diseases. With your classmates and your tutor, you’ll discuss what makes a great doctor and how to talk sensitively to patients. You’ll meet some real patients, learn about their medical history and their symptoms, and diagnose their conditions!

You’ll leave the course with more confidence in your public speaking abilities and with a greater understanding of government and politics.

As we have small class sizes, the course suits both students who have no prior experience of technology, as well as students who have previous experience.
Creative Writing

Oxford is home to some of the most famous authors in history, and this online course will show you how to write for different audiences and in a variety of genres while analysing works that have stood the test of time. You’ll also learn how to create engaging content for online platforms and develop your own unique voice.

On this course, you’ll explore legal concepts and develop your debating skills, then use your knowledge, public speaking, and problem-solving abilities to tackle real-world legal projects. You’ll also work in teams to solve a mathematical code-breaking challenge.

Medicine

Are you keen to learn more about medicine and prepare for life as a doctor? On this course, you’ll learn about the practical and theoretical aspects of medicine, and the most important systems of the body. You’ll also get to meet a psychiatric patient, take their medical history, and attempt to diagnose their symptoms — which will help you stand out on future medical school applications.

World History & Philosophy

Do you love learning about other cultures and civilisations, or are you considering studying History, Philosophy or PPE at university? On this broad-ranging course, you’ll learn about the way previous civilisations lived and worshipped, how they thought about the world, and the influence their beliefs have had on subsequent societies. You’ll explore the key events, philosophies and ideas that have shaped world history, from ancient civilisations to today’s culture wars.
You’ll learn about:
- A global perspective to studying history and philosophy

Masterclasses: Learn Real-World Skills
Masterclasses are skills-based workshops you attend alongside your course of choice.
Led by tutors (or external speakers) with expertise on a specific topic, these workshops are designed to bring out the best in you, present diverse perspectives, and help you achieve your potential.
Masterclasses include topics like Critical Thinking, University Applications and Public Speaking.
Weekly Socials: Build a Global Network
Once a week, you’ll have an online Social with students from other courses.
This is a chance for you to meet other students, including those who are studying a different subject to you, and to socialise with your fellow students in a non-academic environment.
The Social is hosted by our team, and is very relaxed and informal! Usually it’s an activity or a game. It’s not a mandatory part of the course, but we’d strongly encourage you to come along!
Frequently Asked Questions
What time will my live tutorials take place?
The live tutorials will take place from 1-3pm UK time each day. This is in order to best accommodate students from as many time zones as possible onto our courses, resulting in a truly global classroom.
How many hours is the course each day?
You will have two hours a day of live contact time with your tutor, and about two hours of independent study or group work to complete each day. In total, therefore, you should plan to spend about four hours a day on the course.
Will I get a certificate at the end of an Oxford Scholastica Online course?
Yes, upon successful completion of the course you will receive a Certificate of Achievement. For those students who impress us and meet our requirements, we will also provide a Letter of Recommendation, which you can use for future course, job or internship applications.
Do I need any special equipment in order to attend Oxford Scholastica Online?
You don’t need any special equipment in order to attend our online courses. All you need is a computer with a stable Internet connection and a webcam. Ideally you would be able to sit in a quiet room where you won’t be disturbed for your tutorials.
Is the online course content the same as an Oxford Scholastica summer school course?
Our online courses (as with all our online offerings) are project-based, meaning you’ll constantly apply what you learn to real-world problems. While these courses have been designed in accordance with our learning philosophy of Learn, See, Do — just like our Oxford Summer Schools — the content is different, with a greater focus on problem-solving. You can join us for both an online course and the Oxford Summer School in your subject without repeating material.
Who will my tutor be?
We spend a great amount of time carefully selecting and training the best tutors for each course. Our tutors are subject experts from world-class institutions, including Oxford and Cambridge. Learn more about the tutors who lead our online classes.
Are the courses connected to universities such as Oxford?
No - while we're based in the city of Oxford and our tutors teach or study at universities such as Oxford, Cambridge and Harvard, it’s important to understand that we have no formal connection with universities such as Oxford University (you can read more about our relationship here).
Do you have an English language requirement?
We ask that our students can speak, read and understand English well (our minimum English level is Common European Framework Level C1 which equates to IELTS 6.5). If you'd like to arrange a call to check whether you have the right level of English please feel free to contact us.
Are Oxford Scholastica Online courses free?
However, we offer scholarship places for students who have been nominated by teachers at any one of our Partner Schools, and who would otherwise be unable to attend. Learn more about our scholarship programme.
