Pastoral Care

At Oxford Scholastica, we are small by design. Our nurturing, bespoke approach is reflected in every aspect of our programme.

With small class sizes and low student-teacher ratios, everyone gets to know everyone in no time, setting the stage for lifelong friendships and connections.

Our Commitment to Excellence

We take pride in meeting every need with care and attention, ensuring that students feel fully supported throughout their time with us.

Experienced Team

Collectively, our team has over 50 years of experience delivering exceptional summer programmes. We’re proud to be accredited by the British Accreditation Council for our high education and pastoral standards, to have received the first King’s Award from King Charles III at Buckingham Palace and to be rated the number one academic summer school in Europe.

Nurturing Approach

We’re a small, welcoming community where every student is known by name. Our experienced leadership team, Heads of House, Activities Coordinators and Matrons are always on hand, ensuring students feel supported and at home. With our leadership team based on-site throughout the programme, we provide hands-on guidance and care every step of the way.

Academic Excellence
Many of our tutors are academics from Oxford and Cambridge, bringing a wealth of real-world experience into the classroom to make learning engaging and interactive. They’re passionate about what they teach and care deeply about each student, tailoring their approach to be both challenging and supportive.
Pastoral Care

The Oxford Scholastica Approach

At Oxford Scholastica, pastoral care goes beyond supervision. We have a close-knit, friendly team who are passionate about supporting and inspiring students. Our mentors don’t just oversee your experience; they guide, encourage and help you make the most of your time
with us.

From the moment you apply, Stephanie is your dedicated point of contact, available to support both students and parents before, during and after the programme, ensuring you feel confident and well cared for every step of the way.

Meet Our Activities Coordinators

Our Activities Coordinators are undergraduates at universities such as Oxford and Cambridge. They engage and inspire, sharing their experiences of university life and providing essential support and guidance to our students. They ensure everyone has the most memorable of summers.

Smriti Pahari

Activities Coordinator

Smriti studied Law at Worcester College, University of Oxford and recently completed her final year. She is about to start her solicitor training with Slaughter and May. She is passionate about travelling and is looking forward to visiting Spain, Nepal, Thailand and Brazil in the next year.

Gabriel Locke

Activities Coordinator

Gabriel studied History at the University of Bristol, and is currently completing a Master’s Degree in African Studies at St Antony’s College at Oxford University. He has spent previous summers working for UKAID projects in Zambia, and has also helped out on lots of UK summer camps.

Lily Green

Activities Coordinator

Lily moved from Singapore to study History at Brasenose College, University of Oxford. When she graduates she is planning to complete her PGCE in secondary education. In her spare time, Lily takes part in Oxford Student Drama as a costume designer and plays netball for her college.

Meet Our Matrons

Our Matrons (staff members responsible for student health and wellbeing) play a key role in ensuring students are well cared for during the summer school. They oversee the medical welfare and overall experience of our students.

Ana Moniz

Matron

Ana has been a house parent in boarding schools since 2013 and finds the role incredibly rewarding. Passionate about supporting children’s development and growth, she believes in the importance of motivating, caring for and encouraging them. Ana values the opportunity to make a positive impact in her role and is dedicated to nurturing young people.

Pascha Gibbon

Matron

Pascha has worked with us since 2016, having previously worked as a Matron at St Edward’s, a prestigious boarding school in Oxford, caring for hundreds of teenagers aged 13–18 – so there’s little she doesn’t know about supporting young people! She leads our pastoral care and is always available for a chat. Fun fact: her husband once played football for Pelé’s team.

Tessa De Cordova

Matron

Tessa is a Matron at Harrow Hong Kong and flies over each summer to join our team. Oxford is a city she knows well having been Head Matron at the Dragon School and Summer Fields preparatory schools in the city. As well as being a housemistress at Downe House school, she has also worked internationally at schools including Marlborough College in Malaysia.
